Won’t let me write all over it.
These words block me.
I keep telling myself,
“Write now,
Or time will take you.”
But I’ve been at it or so wrong.
I try making cents out of it.
I play the words
And think about the cost and sound.
They sold my writing
That it was no good.
I try to have won,
But I can’t kind the words.
I can’t twist the verbs.
Sometimes I make it take sense.
But mostly I just keep writing to play
With words.
I hope you enjoyed this poem! I wrote it last semester for a creative writing class when we had to write a wordplay poem. I didn’t know what to write about, so I decided to write about just that: not knowing what to write about (a.k.a. writer’s block), which is a struggle all writers can relate to. If you experience any kind of creative blocks (even if you’re not a writer), what do you do to find creativity? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
