As a kid, I assumed that once you became an adult and started a career, everything would fall into place. That familiar question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” made it seem as if becoming a ballerina, an author, or a teacher meant reaching my life’s destination. But it’s really not that simple now, is it?
As I’ve grown, so have my worries about the future. The words “what if” have clouded my mind for days on end, and I’ve found that the path to what I dreamed of becoming isn’t as smooth and straight as I expected. Life is full of plot twists, so instead of worrying about what’s to come, I need to learn how to let go and live.
“Life’s got to be lived, no matter how long or short. You got to take what comes.”
Natalie Babbitt, Tuck Everlasting
Burst into song on a random Tuesday afternoon. Send your loved ones a silly message. Smile. Instead of worrying about the future, live in the moment that God has gifted us.
