What if time was a person? What if you could convince him to give you more moments with the person you love? I explore these ideas in my upcoming short story, “The Boy Who Found Time.” I’ve been writing this story for several weeks now, but I’m finally in the last editing stage, which is the perfect time to give you a little peek into its plot.
"What would you have me do with the time that I hold?"
"The Boy Who Found Time"
Life with his mother is all six-year-old Timothy knows. He never imagined that there would be a time when she was not there anymore, nor did he think that that time would come so soon. Timothy’s mother has been fighting lung cancer for several years, and she tells him she doesn’t have much longer to live. When Timothy’s mother dies, he will have to live with his mean grandmother.
Timothy is devastated when he realizes that death lasts forever. He climbs into the curio cabinet of his grandmother’s old grandfather clock to hide from the world and all its afflictions. Then he falls through the cabinet into a completely different world.
"I think that the best way to get you back home is to take you to mine."
"The Boy Who Found Time"
In this world, Timothy meets Father Time and tries to convince him to give him more time with his mom.
"Just because your world is not endless, does not mean there is no meaning in it."
