You said you want me
To tell you about myself.
Well, I’m not complicated.
You see, I’m friends with Simplicity.
I blend in with the light.
I get lost easily, but you’ll find me
If you look.
You see, I’m quiet,
But the people who want to hear me will.
Some people call me
And then get upset after I give them advice.
I’ll just tell them, “You’ve got the wrong number.
Try giving Comfort a call.”
You see, Comfort might join you
When you become friends with Deception,
But after you accept me,
Comfort will come too.
Deception uses Comfort to gain your trust.
I say it as it is.
Comfort follows.
Some people jump up and down
When they meet me.
Others frown and mock.
They’ll try to turn and cover their eyes so
They won’t have to face me.
Some people mistake me for Deception,
And they’ll think Deception is me.
Yet, those who know me well can
Tell us apart.
I hope you enjoyed my poem! I thought it would be fun to personify truth and demonstrate its significance in our lives. Sometimes it can be hard to distinguish the truth from the lies, but the more you know the truth, the easier it is to separate from the lies. It hurts sometimes too, but it helps us grow.
Let me know what snippets of truth and wisdom you’ve learned. What’s the hardest piece of advice you’ve ever heard?
