Quote of the Week: “You certainly usually find something, if you look…”

Happy Monday! As we start this week, I wanted to share a quote with you by J.R.R. Tolkien. This quote reminds us that life is an adventure, and we don’t always know what to expect. It can be crazy sometimes (okay, let’s face it: life is crazy most of the time), but sometimes the unexpected is a blessing.

Maybe you were looking for a job, and you found a life-long friendship. Maybe you wanted that promotion, but you ended up with patience and contentment. You might have thought that the class you were taking was just a requirement and then it helped you find your career path.

On the flip side, sometimes we expect positive things from something that won’t supply what we’re looking for. We might think that a romantic relationship will be the only thing that will satisfy us, but it turns out it isn’t. Maybe we think we’ll be happy if we have more money, but then find that it leaves us empty inside. These let-downs might turn into greater lessons that bring you closer to the truth.

Yes, we do find things in life, but it’s not always what we expect. And thank goodness for that because the life God plans for us is far better than the one we build with our expectations. Not to mention, it would be pretty boring if everything we predict happens.
